Buhari: I Won’t Rest Until I Bring Relief To Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he would not rest until they get relief from him in view of the current security challenges and costs of living in the country. The President gave the assurance in his Eid-el Kabir message to Nigerian Muslims and other citizens. “I am quite aware of the difficulties people are facing and working to resolve them,” he said in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu. President Buhari expressed hope that this Eid would be a source of blessing, peace, prosperity and safety for all Nigerians, stressing that coexistence and stability will prevail in the country. The President, who called for more patriotism to build a better Nigeria, appealed to Nigerians to put the interest of the country above selfish interests and “use religion as a motivation for the love of our common humanity.” The President said “if we are putting the teachings of our religions into practice, most of the evils afflicting our society would have been solved.” According to him, “religion shouldn’t just be used as a mere badge of identity, but as a motivator for doing good for our country and humanity.” He said “the exploitation of the people by traders and the stealing of public funds by civil servants and other holders of public trust is a reflection of the abandonment of the teachings of our religions.” “Our society is a bundle of contradictions. People display external religiosity without fear of God; they make life difficult for others; money becomes their god; leaders abandon their oaths of office by taking money meant for the welfare of the people and divert it to their private pockets,” he said. President Buhari congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the world on the occasion of the Eid, citing for special mention, “the brave men and women in uniform fighting terror on many fronts and their families, as well as others held hostage and kept away from their families by wicked and heartless terrorists.” He used the occasion to call on all Muslims to reflect on the significance of the sacrifice epitomised by Eid. According to the President, “We should show love and care to our neighbours and others while celebrating this spiritually important event in our lives.” President Buhari also advised Muslims “to promote the good virtues of Islam through personal examples and practice,” adding that “Muslims should avoid association with violent extremist ideas that have wrongly given Islam a negative image or poor perception.”

Zamfara APC gives condition to vote Tinubu, others

Stakeholders and members of the All Progressive Congress in Zamfara State have called for an end to banditry and insecurity as a condition for them to vote the presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other candidates vying for electoral positions. Their position was clarified on Wednesday evening during the fact-finding tour of a delegation from APC North West to all the seven states in the geopolitical zone. The development is coming less than seven months to the 2023 general elections slated for February 25, 2023. In a statement issued on Wednesday night by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Musa Mailafiya Mada, a delegation led Malam Salihu Lukman-led delegation met with party stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital. The statement read, “As the Fact-Finding tour of the North West Zonal Officials of All Progressives Congress reaches Zamfara today, stakeholders of the party in the State assured the Zonal Chairman Malam Salihu Lukman and his team that they have their unflinching loyalty. “They also said that they are united in all fronts to give the party the required result necessary to claim the state in totality. “Yet, they demand the commitment of the presidential and all other candidates vying for electoral posts from the party for them to deliver the state to them.” According to the stakeholders, Zamfara is an APC State that metamorphosed from APP/ANPP into APC since 1999. They further noted that nothing can change that for the fact that people who matter in the state politically are inseparably united in APC. “Yet, the party’s stakeholders demand a serious commitment on deteriorating security situation in the State and the region from anybody vying for any electoral post especially the presidential candidate from the party to work for his success,” they stated. While appreciating the Zamfara stakeholders for their sincerity, APC National Vice Chairman for North West, Malam Salihu Lukman, pledged to take their demand to persons concerned with no hesitation. Lukman stated that the assessment report made from the interaction with the party stakeholders across the Zone is being compiled and will also be taken to the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, after the tour of the geographical region. The North West national vice chairman, who expressed satisfaction with the depth of Zamfara APC loyalty, saluted their courage for opening up on their conditions before casting their votes ahead of the 2023 general elections.
