You’re a paperweight, PDP mocks Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party has lampooned the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, over what it described as his fixation on the PDP amidst the glaring failures of the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration. The main opposition party noted that Nigerians are appalled by yet another attempt by Tinubu, to divert attention from the main issues of the failures of the APC government by making derogatory remarks about the PDP. National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said this in a statement, in Abuja, on Sunday. He said, “Such fixation on the PDP only exposes Asiwaju Tinubu as a paper candidate who is confused, nervy and intimidated by the PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the achievements of the PDP, which stared him in the face in mortal fear of failure ahead of the 2023 general elections. “Unlike the APC that is dead, the PDP is not only alive and existing as acknowledged by Asiwaju Tinubu in his statement, but also strong, united, and focused on its mission to Rescue, Rebuild and Redirect our nation from the misrule of the APC. “It is distressing that Asiwaju Tinubu speaks like someone under the influence with incoherent discourse and absence of mind that further expose a lack of capacity for leadership, especially at the Presidential level.“ The PDP Spokesperson further said It was rather shameful that the APC Presidential Candidate alluded to the nation’s railway system which was revitalized by the PDP administration but painfully surrendered to terrorists and bandits by the APC government. While mocking Tinubu over the various scandals around his age and academic credentials, Ologunagba said, “ from his incoherent discourse, the APC Presidential Candidate appears to be battling with issues of ethical challenges and ineligibility to contest election on account of inconsistencies in his educational qualifications, name, ancestry, age, corruption allegations among myriads of issues.” He further stated that Nigerians have realized the futility of Asiwaju’s non-existent and heavily concocted achievements, influence, leadership prowess, and skills. According to him, Nigerians gave Tinubu the benefit of the doubt but he failed them by engineering a deceitful government leading to the ugly indices of insecurity and bloodletting, economic hardship, unemployment, disunity, and low life expectancy imposed on our nation in the last seven years. Tinubu, the PDP said, should know that Nigerians are aware that he is in the Presidential race not to serve but to gain control of the nation’s treasury so as to expand his exploitative enterprise and economic empire beyond Lagos State. The PDP also noted that the APC Presidential Candidate has not responded to allegations that he is the promoter of the increase in VAT, electricity tariff, import duties, Stamp Duty, fuel price hike as well as other exploitative tolls by the APC Federal Government, from which he allegedly benefits through many stooges in the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and other revenue generating agencies of government. It equally said, “Asiwaju is huge baggage to the APC. He should know that because of him there is a daily exodus of millions of APC members across the country into the PDP. In the last month, over 5 million APC members have defected to the PDP. “In the Lagos State axis, his supposed stronghold, close to one million APC members have decamped to the PDP since his emergence as APC Presidential Candidate. “This is because Nigerians have recognized the PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar as the solution our nation needs at this moment while Asiwaju has been identified as “Another Problem Coming’” (APC).”

You know no Nigerian can accuse Atiku of being a tribalist or a religious bigot. “Nigeria is looking for a healer not a patient; so let us go house-to-house, door-to-door and campaign for Atiku and Okowa to rescue this country. “Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi and others are prepared to be President but Atiku Abubakar is adequately prepared for the task of rescuing, uniting and rebuilding the nation. Police arrest another pastor in Ogun for ‘raping’ teenage church member

The Ogun police command says its operatives have arrested Israel Adebayo, the general overseer of The Beloved Chapel, over alleged rape of a 14-year-old church member. The police arrested the cleric, aged 38, following a complaint by the victim’s mother. Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun police spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday, said the victim’s mother initially refused to report the case to the police because she did not want to offend the cleric. But she decided to report the case because the victim’s private part did not stop bleeding after the alleged rape incident in October 2021.   Oyeyemi added that the cleric confessed to committing the crime and that the victim is currently receiving treatment in a hospital over vaginal bleeding. “The pastor, who is the General Overseer of The Beloved Chapel situated at No 9, Iyaniwura street, off Owonikoko street Agbado area of Ogun state was arrested following a complaint lodged at Agbado divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim,” the Ogun police spokesperson said. “She reported that while she traveled to treat herself of a certain ailment, her daughter who happened to be a choir member in their church went to church and the pastor lured her into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.   “Upon the report, the DPO, Agbado division, detailed his detectives to the scene where the pastor was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the pastor, who admitted defiling the victim, pleaded for forgiveness. “According to him, his family and that of the victim are so close and he didn’t know how and why such a thing happened to him. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect would have been arrested long ago, but the mother of the victim frustrated the move because she doesn’t want to offend her pastor. “But when the victim is continuously bleeding from her private part since the incident which happened in October 2021, she was left with no other option than to allow police to come into the matter.” On Friday, Michael Abiodun, a pastor of The Light House Gospel Church, also in Ogun state, was arrested over alleged rape of a 12-year-old church member.

We’re ready for forensic audit of petrol supply, NNPC replies Customs

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) says it is ready for a forensic audit of its petrol supply and subsidy management framework. Garba Deen Muhammad, group general manager, public affairs division, NNPC, said this in a statement on Saturday. The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) had refuted claims by the NNPC Limited that citizens consume about 60 million litres of petrol daily. It further alleged that the oil company was supplying an excess of 38 million litres of petrol daily since “98 million litres” were lifted daily from the depots. “If I am operating a fuel station today and I go to Minna depot, lift petrol and take it to Kaduna, I may get to Kaduna in the evening and offload that fuel. There is no way I would have sold off that petrol immediately to warrant another load,” Hammed Ali, comptroller-general of Customs, had said. “So, how did you get to 60 million litres per day? That is my question. The issue of smuggling, if you release 98 million litres in actual and 60 million litres are used, the balance should be 38 million litres. How many trucks will carry 38 million litres every day? Which road are they following and where are they carrying this thing to?” Responding to this in the statement, NNPC said between January and August 2022, the total volume of premium motor spirit (PMS), better known as petrol, imported into the country was 16.46 billion litres. According to the company, the figure represents an average supply of 68 million litres per day. “Similarly, import in the year 2021 was 22.35 billion litres, which translated to an average supply of 61 million litres per day,” the statement reads. “The NNPC Ltd notes that the average daily evacuation (depot truck out) from January to August 2022 stands at 67 million litres per day as reported by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). “Daily evacuation (depot load outs) records of the NMDPRA do carry daily oscillation ranging from as low as four million litres to as high as 100 million litres per day. “The NNPC also wishes to point out that rising crude oil prices and PMS supply costs above PPPRA (now NMDPRA) cap had forced oil marketing companies’ (OMCs) withdrawal from PMS import since the fourth quarter of 2017. “In the light of these challenges, NNPC has remained the supplier of last resort and continues to transparently report the monthly PMS cost under-recoveries to the relevant authorities. “NNPC Limited also notes that the average Q2, 2022 international market-determined landing cost was US$1,283/MT and the approved marketing and distribution cost of N46/litre. “The combination of these cost elements translates to a retail pump price of N462/litre and an average subsidy of N297/litre and an annual estimate of N65 trillion on the assumption of 60 million litres daily PMS supply. “This will continuously be adjusted by market and demand realities. “NNPC Ltd shall continue to ensure compliance with existing governance framework that requires the participation of relevant government agencies in all PMS discharge operations, including Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Nigerian navy, Nigeria Customs Service, NIMASA, and all others.” The national oil company, however, said it recognised the impact of maritime and cross-border smuggling of petrol on the overall supply framework. It also acknowledged the possibilities of other criminal activities in the PMS supply and distribution value chain. “As a responsible business entity, NNPC will continue to engage and work with relevant agencies of the government to curtail smuggling of PMS and contain any other criminal activities,” the statement adds. “We will continue to deliver on our mandate to ensure energy security for our country with integrity and transparency. “We invite any forensic audit of the PMS supply and subsidy management framework of the NNPC.”

Al-Makura to APC: Do not underrate other parties

Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against laxity in the next years general elections warning further that they should not underrate other political parties. The former governor of Nassrawa state said the 2023 general elections would be tough especially with the insistence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the introduction of electronic voting system during the exercise. The lawmaker spoke during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House, Lafia, the state capital recently According to Almakura, the ruling APC must work hard if the party must capture power at all levels in 2023. “The 2023 election will not be easy, let’s not take for granted that everything is going for us. We have to get up and do the right thing, especially with the change in the electoral process. “The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) that has gone scientific and full proof, will make us laugh at ourselves at the end of the day, if we don’t take into consideration, some of the basic things that we need to do”, Almakura declared. While urging governor Sule to create a soft-landing political space for some of the aspirants that resigned their positions and contested but lost during the primaries, the Lawmaker also urged the aspirants, as committed members of the APC, to consider and sacrifice for the good of the party. He further appealed to governor Sule to embrace all the aspirants, with a view to moving together as members of a strong, united APC. “No matter how bitter we feel about the outcome of the primaries, I think it behooves upon all of us, as committed members of this party, to reconsider certain sacrifices for the general good of our party. I will like to caution that we are at a certain stage of the political history of our party and we need a united front if we must come out victorious in 2023″. Al-makura called on the federal and state legislators in the state to use the remaining period to deliver both stomach and physical infrastructure to their constituents, as doing so will further motivate the people to vote for the candidates of the party.
