Abducted Ondo Farmers Regain Freedom After Four Days In Captivity

 

Ten persons kidnapped at a farm in Ayede- Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, have finally regained their freedom.

The spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed this in a telephone conversation with Channels Television in Akure. He said the victims regained their freedom in the early hours of Wednesday.

It was gathered that a farmer, identified as Femi Alawiye, and nine of his workers were kidnapped by armed men on his farm on Saturday evening.

The kidnappers were said to have lured the victims to the farm under the pretence that the farm was on fire.

A family member of the farmer said that a few hours after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted the family, demanding a sum of N100 million ransom which they later reduced to N10 million naira after much negotiation.

Although, it could not be established whether the family of the victims paid ransom to secure their release.
