BREAKING: Many feared dead as police, IPOB clash in Enugu


There was tension in Enugu
State on Sunday when policemen clashed
with members of the Indigenous People of
Biafra .

An eyewitness account said that the trouble
started at about 7.00 am when some police
officers invaded the Community Secondary
School Emene where members of IPOB were
meeting, to disperse and arrest them.

In a swift reaction, a large reinforcement was
called and over a dozen patrol vans loaded
with armed security agents comprising police,
army and DSS arrived the scene and faced the Biafra agitators

Sounds of gunfire and teargas fumes filled the
area, particularly between St Patrick
Secondary School and St Joseph Catholic
Church along the old Abakaliki Road.


One account lamented that the premises of St.Patrick Secondary School was “flowing
with blood” as fleeing IPOB members were pursued into the school by security operatives.

Crimefacts gathered that two persons died
in the clash.

It was learnt that many members of the
IPOB were also injured .

An eyewitness said over 10 IPOB
members were arrested .

Efforts to reach the Enugu Police Public
Relations Officer , Daniel Ndukwe, were
not successful as of the time of filling this
report .

Also , the state Commissioner of Police ,
Ahmad Abdurraham , did not answer his
calls .
