Gov. Hope Uzodinma has stated that his government has drastically reduced crime rate in Imo State.
The Governor stated this while welcoming officials of the Nigerian Navy Finance and Logistics, Owerri-Nta who paid him a working visit at the Government House Owerri.
The delegation was led by Rear Admiral FF. Ogu.
According to Uzodimma ,”Moving forward, the Imo helmsman also revealed that the giant strides he has made in the area of security are paying off as under his watch the state has become a nightmare for men of the underworld..
He further attributed this to the effective security system put in place by his administration.
It was this stringent security measure, according to him, that resulted in the prompt apprehension of the eight criminals that were responsible for the death of two NDLEA men recently.
In his response, the Navy Flag Officer, Rear Admiral FF. Ogu, thanked the Imo State Government for its support to the Nigerian Navy, stating that it is on record that Imo State Government is a worthy partner in progress with the Nigerian Navy.
He futher pledged the support of the Nigerian Navy to Imo State Government in particular and the good people of the state in general. He also commended the cooperation of the citizenry in the fight against illegal oil bunkering in Imo State.
Present at the visit were Chief Cosmas Iwu, SSG, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, Chief of Staff, Hon. Chinasa Nwanaeri, SA to the Governor on Special Duties, Hon. Mrs. Nneamaka Okafor, SA to the Governor on New and Electronic Media and members of the press.
