The Cross River State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Mfon Bassey , has been quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission .
It was gathered that he was arrested at his residence in Calabar on Thursday.
The Uyo Zonal Head of EFCC , Edeh Uchenna , confirmed this on Friday.
Uchenna said , “ One Mfon Bassey, Commissioner for Environment is being investigated by EFCC . He was with us yesterday. And was with us this morning. And we are questioning him on certain allegations levelled against him . ”
Uchenna added that “ though we are investigating him , he is not in our custody. He only reported to us when we invited him and he has been honouring our invitations. ”
The EFCC zonal head , however , did not disclose the nature of the allegations levelled against Bassey, who was the former boss of Calabar Transportation Agency .
As of the time of filing this report, Bassey didn ’ t pick his calls . He also did not respond to a text message sent to him .
