The immediate past governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, is under pressure to run for governorship seat of the state says his spokesperson, Chibuike Onyeukwu.
Responding to an inquiry if Ihedioha was making any move to run for the governorship seat of the state on another political party under than his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, Onyeukwu, said ” it is a normal thing”.
Ihedioha had on March 27, in a letter addressed to his party withdrawn from the governorship primary of the PDP in the state.
Speaking to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Friday in Owerri, the state capital, Onyeukwu, said that political parties are wooing his principal with the governorship tickets of their political parties.
Onyeukwu said ” yes, it is a normal thing owing to the capacity of the man, Emeka Ihedioha. Since his withdrawal from the PDP governorship primary in Imo State, there has been multiple calls and apeals from well meaning Imolites for him to run for governorship seat of the state. Political parties too have been wooing him with the governorship tickets of their parties. But at the moment no move by him to move to another political party, at least not to my knowledge.”
