Imo Police parades suspected kidnappers, child thieves, others

Imo State Police command has paraded suspected criminals arrested in connection with various criminal offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, child trafficking/stealing, among others.

Delivering his address during the parade, the state Commissioner of Police (CP) Isaac O Akinmoyede said there was no going back on his earlier pledge to rid Imo State of crime and criminality.

“It could be recalled that during my maiden press briefing on May 20 2020, I made it clear that we shall take the fight against violent crimes to the den of the criminals. I also promised to make Imo too hot for criminals, advising them to either repent or relocate from the state”.

“Let me share with you, some breakthroughs of the command in the last few days. We arrested a total of 11 suspected criminals”.

The crime suspects arrested include a two-man child trafficking and stealing syndicate; Victoria Joseph “F” 28 years  and Joy Ugorji “F” 33 years who were arrested in possession of a stolen two year old baby boy.

Also paraded were three kidnap kingpins; Sampson Okoroafor 31 of Obinkita in Arochukwu LGA, Abia State, Emmanuel Sunday 28 years, of Osisioma, Abia State and one Uchendu all of who were arrested after succumbing to the superior firepower of men of the state Anti-Kidnapping Unit. Two members of the kidnap gang died as a result of gun injuries sustained from the gun duel with the police. Their victim, Chijioke Amadi was rescued unhurt by the police.

Summary of the crimes and suspects are as follows: five suspects were arrested in connection with kidnapping, two arrested in connection with child stealing and trafficking, one person arrested  in connection with murder and three arrested for armed robbery.

Three vehicles were recovered, two AK 47 rifles, one locally made pistol, one pump action rifle, 90 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and 25 rounds of live cartridges, among others.
