Former Senator of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, have said that he is a member of the Social Democratic Party.
This is as the former Secretary to the Rivers State Government restated his commitment to the growth of internal democracy in the politics of Nigeria.
Abe, in a statement he personally signed and posted to his Facebook page, said such ideals have driven his style of politics over the years.
The statement read in part: “Yes I am and I have been a member of the Social Democratic Party SDP.
“I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.
“And I will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people.”
The PUNCH reported that Abe had dumped the All Progressives Congress in the state a fortnight ago, saying he neither knew his ward chairman nor any activity of the main opposition party in the crude oil and gas rich state.
Though the former Senator had insisted he would be on the ballot for the governorship position in the state, he did not disclose under which party he would be contesting.
