Katsina residents have said that the Nigerian Army is winning the war against bandits only on social media platforms.
They particularly said that the Nigerian soldiers were killing bandits on Facebook and Twitter.
The residents who described the soldiers claim to killing bandits in Katsina as ‘audio killing’ have since challenged the soldiers to show the public dead bodies of the bandits that were killed by them.
Mr. Isa, a Katsina resident, told the West African Reporters, that the soldiers do not seem bold enough to confront the bandits let alone killing them.
Describing the claim by the army to have killed many bandits as a propaganda, Isa, said bandits are stronger in Katsina and are taking over control of many communities.
Mr. Sani Ali, who lives in Daura area of Katsina, in a telephone conversation said that his uncle and his family members were wiped out by the bandits when they attacked Batsari community in Faskari Local Government Area of the state.
Ali added that some of the survivors had left their respective communities and do not have the hope of going back because bandits have taken over the entire communities.
Mr. Umar Farouqe, a farmer, who abandoned his farm at Batsari community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State after bandits attack maintained that the army have not killed any of the bandits attacking and killing people in the villages.
Asked if he is aware, the military has announced killing many bandits in Katsina, he said yes, but dismissed them as Facebook and Twitter killings.
“You are right, we have seen a lot of bandits being killed on Facebook and Twitter by the Nigerian soldiers, we encourage them to keep up the fight” Umar said.
Miss Aisha Jibrin, a 400 level student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, speaking said all the stories about military killing bandits in Katsina are all lies.
Angry over the development, Jibrin wonders why the military will be investing more in propaganda than in their war efforts.
Katsina state has witnessed a huge number of attacks from bandits killing many and displacing families from their homes.
The military authority has however announced the killing of a huge number of bandits as a state counter insurgency strategy.
A claim Katsina residents have since punctured describing it as social media killings.
The military authorities could not readily be reached for a response at the time of the report.
