Plateau: Gunmen kill Miyetti Allah Chairman, 24 hours after group raised alarm

Barely 24 hours after a youth group warned about the ‘silent killings by unknown and unseen enemies within the Gindiri District of Mangu LGA’, gunmen have killed the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Sa’adu Musa, in the same Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim who doubled as the Ardo of Gindiri was reportedly killed on Tuesday at about 8 p.m. in Mangu town.

Nura Abdullahi, state chairman of MACBAN, while disclosing this on Thursday in an interaction with journalists in Jos, said the incident occurred near Mangu police station.

According Abdullahi, the incident occurred soon after the deceased had finished taking tea at a joint, adjacent to Magu police headquarters.

“I have traveled to Mangu and the DPO of Mangu police station has told me he has signalled the state headquarters on the matter. I have equally informed the state police commissioner, DSS, and commander, Operation Safe Haven.“

The body of the victim has been released to us and has since been buried according to Islamic rite,” Abdullahi added.

Isaac Akinmoyede, the state Police Commissioner, confirmed the incident.
He said an investigation into the matter was ongoing.

Recall that one Mr Henry Nadoma, National President, Pyen Youths Movement (PYM), during a courtesy call on the Chairman, Mangu Local Government, Mr Lawrence Danat, on Wednesday, raised the alarm about the many unresolved killings in Gindiri district of Mangu LGA.

Nadoma, who was represented by the Vice President of the movement, Zakari Abbas, said: “we, the people of Gindiri as a district are under siege by unseen and unknown enemies”.

“The frequent killings of innocent citizens in Gindiri axis is alarming and disturbing to us as citizens and we are in dire need of assistance from the Federal, state and local governments.

“In fact, what we need is speedy intervention, especially the security agencies to take more drastic measures to ensure we get the desired protection and cover from the killers.

“It could be recalled that we have two recent attacks that left a traditional ruler and a famous illustrious son dead with no trace of the perpetrators of the heinous acts,” he said.
