Reps ask FG to ban single-use plastics, styrofoam

The house of representatives has asked the federal government to ban the production, importation, distribution, and use of styrofoam and single-use plastics across the country.

The lower legislative chamber passed the motion during the plenary session on Wednesday following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Muktar Shagaya, a lawmaker from Kwara state.

The development comes weeks after Lagos announced a ban on the usage and distribution of styrofoam and other single-use plastics in the state.
