Police recover body of site Engineer, killed, buried in shallow grave by his workers

The Delta State Police Command has uncovered and recovered the remains of a 38-year-old site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, who was allegedly murdered and buried in a shallow grave by workers he had employed at a construction site.

According to SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, who disclosed this information on Thursday, April 3, 2025, Udalor was supervising a construction project for his cousin when the tragic incident occurred.

Investigations revealed that the deceased had hired four young men, all natives of Benue State, to work for him at the construction site.

However, on December 10, 2024, the workers allegedly conspired against their employer, attacking him with a hammer and killing him by striking him on the head.

In what police described as “man’s inhumanity to man,” the suspects then proceeded to conceal their crime by burying Udalor’s body in a shallow grave at the same construction site where he had employed them.

“A sad story of a 38-year-old man who was employed by his cousin as a site engineer. The site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, employed four boys, all from Benue State,” the police statement read.

“On December 10, 2024, they conspired and murdered him at the site using a hammer to hit his head and buried him in a shallow grave there at the site,” the statement continued.

The victim’s body was exhumed on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, following the arrest of two suspects connected to the murder.

Police investigations into the case are ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The Delta State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all perpetrators involved in the heinous crime would be brought to justice.
