Two Nigerians Among 224 Illegal Migrants Arrested at US Border

Two unnamed Nigerians are among the 224 illegal migrants recently apprehended by agents of the US Customs and Border Control in San Diego, California.

According to information available on the agency’s website, the raids that saw the migrants arrested took place between July 23 and July 26.

Of the 224 arrested, 101 are said to have crossed into the country through a drainage tube near Imperial Beach.

The agency also says that smugglers cut the drainage tube bars at San Diego’s Imperial Beach Station to create a pathway for the migrants.

Most of the migrants apprehended are from South America, North America and Africa. They are also classified as 167 single adults and 57 family unit members.

Of the African migrants arrested, four are from Sierra Leone, two from Nigeria and one from Gambia.
Brazil has the highest number with 183, while Romania and Colombia have eight each.

The agency first apprehended 123 migrants on July 23 before arresting an additional 101 on July 26. The damaged drainage was discovered after investigations were carried out.

The agency says all individuals were transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
