Drama as police arrest trader eating excreta with bread in Oyo

Oyo State Police Command has arrested a trader identified as Emmanuel Egbu , for allegedly eating human excreta with bread . It was gathered that Egbu , who has a shop at the Sango area of Ibadan , the Oyo State capital, was caught by some persons around 12 noon on Saturday. This caused traffic snarl as many people thronged the place to have a glimpse of the bizarre situation . Eating human excreta is said to be the hallmark of Internet fraudsters, who also combine money rituals with cyber fraud. Egbu , who has a thriving cosmetics shop where he sells Brazilian hair , was said to have been caught eating human excreta and bread . Those who caught him with the weird food combination were said to have raised the alarm, which attracted a huge crowd . The trader , who is said to have bought a house and rebuilt it around the same area , was however rescued before he could be lynched . He was taken to the Sango Police Station . The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State , Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi , when contacted told our correspondent that Egbu was in police custody. He said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sango Police Station had begun investigation into the incident . The PPRO said , “ The DPO told me that some people rescued the man from those who accused him of eating excreta and bread . They said they found some excreta which he packed inside a nylon bag . He was caught and taken to the police station “ The DPO has taken over the case and the man is already in custody . He has begun investigation into the case and samples of what was found on him would be sent for laboratory analysis . “ He has taken the man ’s statement also , and after the investigation at that level , the case will be sent to the State Criminal investigation Department at Iyaganku for further investigation . Investigation will reveal if he is involved in money ritual or not .”

BREAKING: Many feared dead as police, IPOB clash in Enugu

There was tension in Enugu State on Sunday when policemen clashed with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra . An eyewitness account said that the trouble started at about 7.00 am when some police officers invaded the Community Secondary School Emene where members of IPOB were meeting, to disperse and arrest them. In a swift reaction, a large reinforcement was called and over a dozen patrol vans loaded with armed security agents comprising police, army and DSS arrived the scene and faced the Biafra agitators Sounds of gunfire and teargas fumes filled the area, particularly between St Patrick Secondary School and St Joseph Catholic Church along the old Abakaliki Road. One account lamented that the premises of St.Patrick Secondary School was “flowing with blood” as fleeing IPOB members were pursued into the school by security operatives. into the school by security operatives. Crimefacts gathered that two persons died in the clash. It was learnt that many members of the IPOB were also injured . An eyewitness said over 10 IPOB members were arrested . Efforts to reach the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer , Daniel Ndukwe, were not successful as of the time of filling this report . Also , the state Commissioner of Police , Ahmad Abdurraham , did not answer his calls .

3-year-old girl falls into well in Lagos, dies

Residents and sympathisers, on Saturday night, cried as men of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, and Fire Service recovered the body of three-year-old Seyi Jebose from the well she fell into at their 1, Gemini Bus Stop, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos, residence. The LASEMA Response Team, LRT, recovered the body in an operation that began at about 7:42p.m., on Saturday. According to reports, Seyi fell through the rusty cover of the well while she playing, without the adults noticing the incident. Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, “further investigation revealed that Seyi Jebose fell through the rusty cover of the well while playing in the compound, where she lives with her parents. “With the combined efforts of LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service and NPF Alagolo Division, the girl was brought out of the well and rushed to Solad Hospital, Maria Street, Baruwa Ipaja, where she was confirmed dead on arrival. “The body has been handed over to the family members and Police officers from Alagolo Police Station, led by one Inspector Abumere.”

Woman throws her newborn into toilet for being a boy in Anambra

One 30-year-old woman from Ogidi, in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State is presently making headlines after throwing her newborn baby boy into the toilet. A resident, who spoke to PUNCH said she had been complaining to some people that she did not like the sex of her baby.. “I learnt she went for a scan some weeks ago and was told that her baby was a boy; whereas, she was expecting a baby girl. “Those closed to her said she had been angry about that. I won’t know whether that could be the reason for her action,” the resident stated. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying that the baby was recovered dead from the toilet. Mohammed added, “On Saturday, around 8.30am, operatives attached to Ogidi Division arrested one Franca Udokwu, 30, of Obuba Obofia Nkpor Community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State. The suspect allegedly gave birth to a baby boy and dumped the child inside a pit toilet inside her house. “Upon interrogation, the suspect led police detectives to the scene of crime where the baby was recovered and taken to Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.”

Again, Police rescue 6-year-old Orphan incarcerated for 12 months in Kano

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have again rescued a six years old orphan, Umar Ubale confined for 12 months by his father in Hanyi Fulani, Panshekara area of the state. It was gathered that the father had been arrested in connection with the inhumane act while the stepmother had fled. The orphan boy who was said to be left under the care of his stepmother since he lost his mum a couple of years back. The operation leading to little Umar Ubale’s rescued was said to have been aided by a Human Right Network who alerted the police on the breach of human rights in the ancient city. Head of the Network, Comrade A. A. Haruna described the trend as worrisome and a touching story. He said that as usual “we were alerted by a good samaritan, and upon completion of our Investigations, we informed the security agents to do the needful. “The boy was subjected to forms of dehumanization while in captivity. We uncovered the boy with a decaying skull arising from injury inflicted on him by his father. “We have since evacuated the boy to Murtala Mohammed Special Hospital for medical attention,” Haruna said. The spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the development saying the boy’s father, Malam Ubale has been taken into custody, while the stepmother is on the run. DSP Haruna however, assured the readiness of the Command’s readiness to bring the perpetrators to book. With this brings the number of confined persons rescued in the state at five in less than two weeks. Others were rescued in Kebbi, Sokoto and Borno States.

Five cultists nabbed for possession of Human skulls in Cross Rivers

Five suspected cultists have been arrested with human skulls in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State. They were arrested and paraded at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC. Speaking during a press conference in Calabar on Friday, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Danjuma Elisha, said the suspects were arrested in the wake of a raid carried out on a compound in Ogoja. “This is a case of suspected cultism, ritualists in Ogoja Local Government Area. They were found with all the items they used in their activities. “We raided the place because it is a compound. Eventually, four of them were found to be the people involved. So we are targeting them this time for the public to see,” he said. Reacting to a question surrounding the command’s response in tackling the menace of cultism in the state, Elisha said the NSCDC, police and other security agencies were doing their best in view of the prevailing realities. He further stated that the government has taken bold steps by demolishing houses suspected to be linked to cult groups, adding that security agencies have been supporting efforts of the government. He said the suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

Aisha Buhari returns from Dubai, wants medical tourism reduced

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari , has returned from Dubai , United Arab Emirates , where she went to treat a severe neck pain . The President ’s wife said this in an Instagram post shortly after her return on Saturday. Mrs. Buhari , who returned on a Presidential jet , said they witnessed a turbulence but the pilots were able to weather the storm . She wrote , “ I want to use this opportunity to thank all Nigerians for their prayers and well wishes while I was away for medical treatment . I am well now and fully recovered and had since returned back home, Nigeria . “ On our way back , the Nigerian Air Force flight encountered a violent clear air turbulence which was navigated safely and professionally by the captain and crew of the flight . “ I want to commend and appreciate the courage and professionalism of the captain and his crew, the wonderful gallant service men and women of the entire Nigerian Air Force for their dedication to duty and the quality of maintenance of its fleet.” The President ’s wife, while drumming support for Nigeria ’s health care sector, called on private health personnel to take advantage of the N 100 bn fund being disbursed by the Central Bank of Nigeria . She said this would help in reviving the health sector and reducing medical tourism. Mrs. Buhari added , “ I recall hosting the private health care providers earlier in the year and we had a very productive engagement where the issue of building the capacity of Nigeria health sector was the major focus , and funding was discovered to be the major challenge . “ I , therefore , call on the healthcare providers to take the advantage of the Federal Government ’s initiative through the Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines for the operation of N 100 bn credit support for the health care sector as was released recently contained in a circular dated March 25 , 2020 , to the commercial banks . “ This will no doubt help in building and expanding the capacity of the Nigerian health sector and ultimately reduce medical trips and tourism outside the country. Once again, I thank our frontline workers and all Nigerians for their steadfastness as we navigate the challenges facing the entire world . ” The President’s wife had travelled out of the country in the first week of August following a severe neck pain .

Four dead, five injured in Ogun auto crashes

Four persons have lost their lives while five others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Ogun State on Friday. The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps , Ahmed Umar , confirmed the accidents on Saturday. Umar said the first accident claimed the lives of a motorcyclist and his passenger when a bus rammed into them, along the Ore- Benin – Ijebu- Ode Expressway. The state FRSC boss added that the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control due to a burst tire and rammed into the motorcyclist while he was reportedly driving against traffic. The sector commander noted that those who sustained injuries in the accident had been taken to the Hope Hospital , J 4 , while the dead had been deposited at the mortuary . On the second accident , Umar disclosed that eight persons were involved in the crash in the Alafia area at J 4 axis of the expressway. He said two persons died in the crash while five others sustained injuries .

Crimefacts gathered that the Special Adviser to Uzodinma on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri alleged that the journalist was videoing him and how Imo government allegedly locked up Imo pensioners who they suspect that they were about to commence another round of protest as they gathered to hold a meeting. Explanations by the journalist, Onwuka in denial of the charge fell on his deaf ear. The journalist in the company of his colleagues approached the Chief Press Secretary, Nwachukwu and Emelumba, Information Commissioner both of who put several calls to Nwaneri but he declined to pick. After two days, the journalist,Kingsley Obinna Onwuka, Darling FM radio staff said that his phone has been given to him back but all information in the phone was wiped off by Uzodimma’s aide . According the journalist,”they flashed my phone o! All my contacts, recordings, personal business transactions gone, everything gone”.

Jonathan, Other West African Leaders Arrive Mali to restore Peace

West African envoys led by former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, have arrived in Mali’s capital, Bamako, to negotiate the release of Ibrahim Keita, the ousted President, and the restoration of a constitutional government. The delegation was set up by the Economic Community of West African State following the political crisis rocking Mali and Keita’s resignation. The envoys’ visit comes one day after thousands crowded into Mali’s capital in a raucous show of support for the military junta. Rebel soldiers seized Keita and other leaders after a mutiny on Tuesday, dealing another deep blow to a country already struggling with a brutal Islamist insurgency and widespread public discontent over its government. The coup leaders, who identified themselves as the National Committee for the Salvation of the People, later declared their intention to form a civilian transitional government and promised “a reasonable timeline” for holding new elections. Jonathan, who is ECOWAS Special Envoy to Mali, had visited the country to mediate on the crisis in July. Another ECOWAS delegation including President Muhammadu Buhari also visited the country for discussions on restoring peace in the country but the talks did not yield results.
