Pilot survives as bandits shoot down air force jet in Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says Abayomi Dairo, a flight lieutenant, survived after one of its fighter jets crashed in Zamfara. There was a report of the crash on Sunday, but Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesperson, said the air force was still trying to get the report of the incident. Confirming the crash in a statement on Monday, Gabkwet said the fighter jet was returning from a successful air interdiction mission between the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna states when it came under heavy fire from bandits and crashed in Zamfara. According to him, Dairo, the pilot of the jet, successfully ejected. ”Luckily, the gallant pilot of the aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, successfully ejected from the aircraft. Using his survival instincts, the pilot, who came under intense ground fire from the bandits, was able to evade them and sought refuge in nearby settlements awaiting sunset,” the statement reads. “Using the cover of darkness and his phone set for navigation, Flight Lieutenant Dairo was able to elude several bandits’ strongholds and maneuvered his way to a Nigerian Army Unit, where he was finally rescued. “It is instructive to note that upon receipt of the news of the crash, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, had directed that all efforts must be emplaced to rescue the pilot. Accordingly, NAF Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and helicopter gunships provided close air support to NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops who were able to locate the crash site and the pilot’s parachute, while also combing nearby locations for any sign of the pilot. It is gladdening to note that while in hiding, Flight Lieutenant Dairo confirmed that the presence of NAF aircraft within the vicinity of the crash site helped in scaring the bandits who were after him, thus enabling him to find refuge and escape to a safe location. “It is important to also recall that only recently, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, had directed the Armed Forces of Nigeria to do all it takes to flush out criminal elements in Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna States. It is in fulfilment of this directive that the NAF, in conjunction with surface forces, has in the last 2 weeks mounted intensive day and night air interdiction operations against bandits and their hideouts, especially in these 3 states. “Through these intensive air operations, hundreds of bandits have been neutralized and several of their hideouts destroyed. Despite the setback of yesterday’s crash, the NAF remains committed towards fulfilling Mr President’s mandate as well as other constitutional roles assigned to it. The willingness, readiness and tested ability of the NAF remains unshaken and unwavering as it continues to carry out its assigned roles. Kindly bring the information to the awareness of the general public.”

Forgive Nnamdi Kanu, facilitate his release, Ohanaeze tells S-East govs

The pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has tasked South East Governors to consider what it described as the ‘bigger picture of the consequences’ which the incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu would bring to Eastern Nigeria as soon as his retrial begins on 26th July, 2021. The group explained that obedience to Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s advice to his teeming supporters to shun any form of protest and procession across the region may not last long. The Chidi Ibeh led Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement, said it could no longer afford to stop Kanu’s supporters from hitting the streets in protest against the continued detention of their leader. Ohanaeze urged the Governors to explore their cordial relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari to negotiate the release of the detained IPOB leader, stressing that such would bring total peace to the South East zone. “South East Governors and Igbo elders should consider the bigger picture of the consequences of Nnamdi Kanu’s detention. They must forgive his excesses. This is not the time for blame, accusations and counter-accusations. Ohanaeze Ndigbo appeals to South East Governors to explore the harmonious relationships between them and President Buhari to secure soft landing for the detained IPOB leader for the sustainability of the peaceful atmosphere that just returned to the zone. “The previous Nnamdi Kanu’s rantings and insults heaped on South East Governors and Igbo Elders were unbearable but the best way to forgive him is to secure his release. As for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we will continue to talk to his teeming supporters to shun any protest and give the South East Governors and other Igbo leaders the opportunity to negotiate his release with President Buhari. We have implicit confidence that the continuous silence of the Governors is golden and as backstage activities and negotiations are going on quietly without much noise. What is required now is the release of Nnamdi Kanu through out of court settlement.” Meantime, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned South East Governors that allegedly planned and executed the arrest and extradition of its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to work for his release or be ready to face the wrath of the group. IPOB also told the South East politicians serving and non serving that they all have hand in the ordeal of Mazi Kanu, for their alleged persuasions for him to accept dialogue and in the process convinced him to visit Kenya to commence the process for dialogue, only to have him arrested and extradited to Nigeria, saying that they must ensure that nothing untoward happens to him in detention and must work for his release. IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said that verifiable information at the group’s disposal revealed that serving and non serving Igbo politicians with a few selfish and greedy businessmen in collaboration with Nigerian security men betrayed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB therefore, tasked Governors, National Assembly members, Ministers, Commissioners, State lawmakers, State Commissioners, traditional rulers, Local Government Area chairmen, all political appointees both current and former to ensure that Mazi Kanu is freed from detention as soon as possible. The Biafra agitating group said that there is no need for the class of people it has mentioned to pretend or feign ignorance over its leaders arrest, saying that if they failed to stand with the people by ensuring his release, they should get ready for the wrath of IPOB.

He said he bought it with his own money and that he could drive the helicopter anywhere. Oyedepo spoke during a service at Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Ogun State on Sunday. The Bishop said the Lord spoke to him years ago that He would through this Ministry raise the foundations of many other ministries. “I was in a place the other time, almost every vibrant Ministry went through Bible School, almost everyone. One of them said, he was in Primary School in Kaduna when they started bringing him to Church. Fire! God never lies. If you are interested, He wants to make a giant of you; if you are not interested, nobody can be interested on your behalf. It’s just you. ”All the place I used to trek bearing this gospel and enjoying the insults of people, I fly my helicopter across the place today,” he said. Oyedepo added: “In our time, you will be very mad to think that a Pastor will fly helicopter. You must be mad, you mustn’t say so. ”I bought it with my money ooo, not your Church money. I can go to my village 20 times if I want. I have a vow with Jesus, His money will never miss its road to my pocket,” he said, as reported by Church Gist. The cleric stated: “Jesus: His Church never paid a dime in our children going to School, but rather we are giving people scholarship on our own. “Just do what He says, you are too busy trying to do these things yourself, it won’t work. Whatever He tells you to do, do it! “My prayer is that the giant in you will not go to the grave with you. The things loaded with you to bless your world, your generation, will not go to the grave with you.”

Today, he is in an American jail. “Hushpuppi once made several videos mocking me that I am jealous of him. That I should focus on politicians, activism and allow him to enjoy his money. Today, how far? We cannot watch you guys negatively brainwash young people and say nothing.”
