NDLEA Operative Killed By Gunmen In Ebonyi

 

The spate of attack on security formations in the South East is continuing unabated and spreading to all agencies.

The recent victims are operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The Agency’s officers came under attack along the Ezzamgbo axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway, according to a report by LEADERSHIP newspaper.

During the violent attack, an officer lost his life and one other was seriously injured.

According to the newspaper, the attackers made away with a riffle belonging to one of the officers while setting their operational vehicle; a Hilux van ablaze.

“On 20th Feb. 2022, Sunday morning at about 300hrs at Drug checkpoint along Enugu Abakaliki highway Ezzangbo, unknown gunmen attacked Drug law enforcement agents and shot two drug officers on duty.

“One officer killed while the other one was shot on the leg which fractured his leg. One riffle collected, one patrol Hilux Van burnt. The names of the victims not yet disclosed,” the outlet said while quoting a source.
