Policeman held over killing of 24 year-old in Anambra

The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered the detention of the officer implicated in the murder of a 24-year-old male in the state.

The victim, identified only as Ebuka, was reportedly shot and killed by the officer on the Onitsha/Owerri road on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

In a statement released to Journalist101, the command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, indicated that a preliminary investigation has identified a police corporal as the primary suspect in the incident.

“The CP has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka and appeals for calm. He assures the public that the Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served,” Ikenga stated.
