CiPDI urges IGP to Intervene – and ensure Immediate release of detained Abuja based publisher, Ezenekwe

 

An NGO, Center For Innovative And Pragmatic Development Initiative (CiPDI), has urged the Nigerian Police to release an Abuja based journalist and publisher of 247 Reports, Ekenna Ezenekwe.

Recall that Ezenekwe, the publisher of 247UREPORTS online media out
was arrested by plain clothes policemen in Abuja on Tuesday, insisting that he must disclose the source of his information over a story he published about a former Chief of Staff of the ex-governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, Mr Primus Odili.

It was further learnt that the publisher is currently being detained at Maitama Police station Abuja.

In a statement by the organization’s president, Ifeanyi Nwanoruo condemned the arrest and detention of the publisher.

The statement reads, “Center for Innovative and Pragmatic Development Initiative CIPDI, condemns the arrest and detention of Ikenna Ezenekwe Plublisher of 247UReports by the Nigeria Police Force.

“We call on the inspector General of Police to please intervene in this matter to ensure the release of Mr. Ezenekwe.

Speaking further, “we are a nation of laws and order and our Law enforcement Officers should adhere to the tenets of the law, “Nwanoruo said.
