Gunmen kill ECWA pastor

 

The Gombe State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of Reverend Bala Galadima, a presiding clergy of the Evangelical Church Winning All in Lubo community, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area.

Punch reports that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

Confirming the incident Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed that the incident was a case of robbery that led to the death of the clergyman.

He said, “The issue is a robbery because they entered the house at night and maybe they attempted to rob him.

“Unfortunately, from the way he was shot in the back, maybe he was trying to escape, which is natural and normal, and he was shot.”

Abdullahi disclosed that Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, visited the hospital where the body of the deceased was taken and deployed a team of special squad to maintain peace assuring that the culprits would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Recalling the incident, a resident who identified himself as Ahmadu said the incident occurred early on Sunday morning.

He noted that the gunmen entered the pastor’s residence from a civil defence personnel compound.

He stated, “They first visited the ECWA Church in the community before proceeding to a nearby compound where they stole some money.

“They didn’t come for the pastor but we learnt he was shot when he peeped on hearing the sound outside. He was shot in the back.”
