Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Bosso Division of the Niger State Police Command, have arrested a 40-year-old suspected rapist, Usman Mohammed of Tati Village, Minna, over an allegation of luring underaged girl to an uncompleted building within Tati village where he allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim multiple times.
The suspect was said to have been arrested “on 28/02/2024 at about 22:30 hours after it was also reported at Bosso Division that within February, 2024, that a female victim of about 15yrs who is a JSS 3 student of a Secondary School in Minna, (names withheld) felt sick and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she was confirmed to be pregnant with complications.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated this in a Crime Bulletin issued and made available to Journalists recently in Minna, adding that during interrogation, the victim confessed to the parents that it was one Usman Mohammed of Tayi village, Minna who impregnated her.
The Crime Bulletin stated further that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect usually lured the girl with a token of N100/N200s after she returned from Islamiya school to an uncompleted building within Tayi village for unlawful carnal knowledge multiple times.
According to the Police spokesman, the suspect was arrested in the same area and he confessed to the crime, adding that a preliminary investigation is ongoing at Bosso Division.
He however assured that the suspect will be transferred to State Criminals Investigations Department( SCID) Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
