One week after the Imo Local Government Elections, the State Electoral Commission (ISEC), has failed to publish the figures pulled by each of the parties’ candidates.
17 political parties participated in the election.
On 22 September, ISEC Chairman, Mr Charles Ejogu, declared the results without announcing the figures polled by the parties participating in the exercise.

Mr. Ejogu had promised to provide the scores garnered by each of the candidates, but as of Saturday, 28 September 2024, this has not been made public.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo won the elections for all 305 Councillorship and 27 Chairmanship positions in the state’s 27 Local Government Areas.
Our reporter who monitored the announcement of the Imo LG elections results at the ISEC headquarters in Owerri last week Sunday, observed that Mr Ejogu only called the names of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanships and Councilorship winners.
Mr Ejogu said ISEC gave room for robust participation. We had meetings with critical stakeholders and all security agencies.
The ISEC chairman also claimed the electoral body observed primaries of political parties. The election took place across 305 wards and 27 LGs. The election took place at 4758 polling units.
The chairman added, “The APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats”.
Political analysts, Journalists, and Imo residents have termed it “Fraudulent, “ the process through which the Imo LG elections were conducted and handled by ISEC.
Low Voter Turnout
The elections were grossly marred by voter apathy, and voting did not occur in almost all the local government areas.
Late Arrival Of Electoral Materials
The elections were also characterized by the late arrival of voting materials.
The electoral materials were distributed at the ISIEC headquarters, Orlu Road, in the early hours of Saturday, from where they were taken to various LGA headquarters in the state and then to the voting centers across the 27 LGAs and 305 electoral wards.
It was observed that in some places in the Owerri metropolis, electoral materials didn’t arrive until 1: p.m. While in Ideato North, the materials arrived around 3 pm.
In a video, voters who waited for a long time insisted that there’s no need for elections in these areas. They alleged that the Ruling Party in the State had manipulated the process.
A different Story in Kwara State
Unlike Imo, findings by CrimeFacts news revealed that that Kwara State Electoral Commission (KWSEC) made public the figures each candidates pulled from the LG elections.
Five political parties participated in the Kwara State LG elections held on September 21.
Announcing the results at the KWSIEC headquarters in Ilorin in the early hours of Sunday, the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Mohammad Baba-Okanla, said the APC won all the 16 local government area chairmanship positions and all the 193 councilorship seats.
According to Tribuneonline, the details of the results collated from all Kwara State polling units, wards, and Local Governments for the chairmanship position are as follows:
