Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered the arrest and prosecution of Ndukwe Ayansi and five others for allegedly diverting materials meant for the state Ministry of Health.

This was disclosed on Sunday in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Monday Uzor and obtained by Channels Television.

According to Uzor, the governor on his way to inspect ongoing projects sighted a Toyota mini truck loading registers, books and other materials from the warehouse of the Ministry of Health located at Ochudo Centenary city in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The governor who drove in and made inquiries but wasn’t satisfied with answers, probed further and discovered that patients’ data registers, cards and a host of other documents were moved into the vehicle.

He described the action as sabotage to government efforts at repositioning the health sector, adding that all the documents have been sold without government approval.

“You are selling government documents without approval on a Saturday afternoon,” the governor said.

“Our hospitals in the rural areas are requesting for registers and data entry forms and hospital cards. Sadly, the ones the government has produced are being sold by you.”

Meanwhile, the suspects have been arrested by police while investigation continues.
