United States Senator Lindsey Graham has threatened to impose sanctions on allied nations like Canada, Britain, Germany, and France if they enforce the International Criminal Court arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
These warrants were issued about alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
“To any ally, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, if you try to help the ICC, we’re going to sanction you,” Graham told Fox News in an interview late Friday.
“If you are going to help the ICC as a nation and force the arrest warrant against Bibi and Gallant, the former defence minister, I will put sanctions on you as a nation,” he said.
“You’re gonna have to pick the rogue ICC versus America,” Graham added.
Graham’s statement was made in response to the ICC’s decision and reflects a strong stance against supporting the court’s actions.
Israel’s military offensive on Gaza launched after a cross-border attack by Hamas in October, has resulted in over 44,000 deaths, mostly women and children, and left more than 104,000 injured.
The conflict has sparked global outrage, with Israel facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel has engaged in airstrikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah, resulting in over 3,600 deaths, 15,300 injuries, and the displacement of more than a million people since last October, according to Lebanese health authorities
