Court remands Lagos teacher who assaulted pupil

A magistrate court in Ogba area of Lagos state has remanded Stella Nwadigbo, the teacher who was seen in a viral video assaulting a three-year-old pupil.

Nwadigbo was taken to court on Thursday by the Lagos state police command over indecent treatment and assault of the child.

She was remanded at the Kirikiri correctional centre pending when the case will be called on February 18.

Recently, a video surfaced on social media showing a primary school teacher violently smacking a toddler for failing in a numeracy lesson.

The video sparked outrage on social media as many Nigerians called for the arrest of the teacher.

Subsequently, the female teacher was identified as Nwadigbo of the Christ Mitots School, a school located in the Ikorodu suburb of Lagos.

The teacher was later arrested by the police and she was also suspended by the school management.
