Lagos factory workers trapped in diesel reservoir die

Two factory workers, who were rescued after they got trapped while working on a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos State, have been confirmed dead.

PUNCH Online learnt that the workers were rescued by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and men of the Lagos State Fire Service.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident occurred around 10am on Saturday.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the victims fell into the reservoir while carrying out repair work.

He disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that one of the victims accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir, while the second victim fell into the same reservoir in an attempt to rescue his colleague.

The LASEMA boss noted that both victims were evacuated and transported to the hospital for further medical attention.

He, however, stated that both victims were confirmed dead at the hospital.

He added, “The two male adults earlier rescued this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, despite all sustained medical efforts later died.

“No more updates on the development and operations have been concluded.“
