More than 100 killed since ceasefire deal announced — Gaza civil defence

More than 100 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip by Israeli strikes since the ceasefire deal was announced on Wednesday, Gaza’s civil defence agency disclosed on Friday.

Spokesman Mahmoud Basal says 101 people, including 27 children and 31 women, have been killed and more than 264 wounded.

He says nine people were killed in an Israeli strike last night on a house in the al-Jurn area in northern Gaza, and another five were killed yesterday when a home was hit in central Gaza.

The bombing continued in several areas of the Strip on Friday morning, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.

It would be recalled that the office of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that a “deal to release the hostages” has been reached after extensive negotiations involving multiple parties.

Netanyahu initially delayed a cabinet vote scheduled for Thursday to approve a Gaza ceasefire deal, accusing Hamas of attempting last-minute changes.

However, his office announced on Friday morning that Netanyahu had been informed by the negotiating team of a final agreement.

Hamas, on the other hand, maintained its commitment to the deal but sought to include additional Palestinian prisoners in the exchange list.

Although Israeli negotiators have endorsed the agreement, its implementation hinges on the approval of the political-security cabinet and the government. Reports of the deal have sparked celebrations among some Palestinians and families of the Israeli hostages.
