A truck driver identified as Micheal Chimezie Okorie, died on Sunday at about 0400hrs when he was allegedly chased in his M/Benz 911 truck with registration number ACA 178 XA lost control and crashed near Coaca Cola Market along Asaba- Onitsha express way.
According to eyewitnesses the victim became unconscious and was rushed to Toronto Hospital Onitsha but was confirmed dead after Doctors examination and eventually deposited at hospital Mogue for autopsy and further investigation.
Consequently, angry youth blocked the express way and started setting bonfires on the road a situation that created a serious traffic gridlock. It took the intervention of security agencies, Union leaders and State Officials to restore normalcy. Obstruction is being cleared by FRSC Operatives from Onitsha Unit Command to ensure free flow of traffic along the route.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State CC Andrew A Kumapayi sends his condolences to the deceased family and appealed to the motoring public to adhere to traffic regulations.
According to the police Obstruction cleared and free flow of traffic restored in the Area
Meanwhile, Anambra Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang, who is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident has ordered for a full scale investigation into the matter.
The CP further assures the public that perpetrators would be arrested and brought to book.
