Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have on Monday killed 2 cattle merchants and abducted 2 others in Andame town in Karim-Lamido local government area of Taraba state.
Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen also made away with millions of Naira belonging to the cattle merchants who were said to have came from Kano to the area to buy cows.
The town which have a big cattle market has faced several attacks by armed robbers and kidnappers over the years.
A source in the area, told Daily Trust that over 12 traders were abducted by kidnappers in the town and millions of Naira paid in ransom in the past few weeks.
The area, it was gathered shared common boundary with Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe states is being faced with bandit activities especially kidnapping.
The police spokesperson, DSP David Misal confirmed the incident.
In a related development, communities in Jatau town of Bali local government area have appealed to Taraba State government to deploy security personnels to confront the high rate of kidnapping in the area.
A resident, Ibrahim Lawal told Daily Trust that innocent people are kidnapped on daily basis at a spot along Jatau-Bali road.
“It is very dangerous and risky to go to the farm and travel in the area because of activities of armed bandits” he said.
