Report: Vehicle stolen during Juma’at prayer in FCT no longer attached to NSA office

Fresh information has surfaced about a vehicle reportedly stolen from a staff member at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The vehicle was said to have been whisked away while the ONSA official attended Juma’at prayers on Friday in Abuja.

A report on Saturday claimed that the FCT police command had launched an investigation into the disappearance of the Toyota Hilux.

On Sunday, PR Nigeria reported that the vehicle was retired from official use and auctioned to the staff member two years ago.

“It’s an old vehicle that was handed over to a staff member during an auction two years ago,” an official at the ONSA was quoted as saying.

The vehicle was said to have been part of ONSA’s administrative fleet before it was demobilised and sold.

PR Nigeria said a military officer attached to ONSA said the staff member had parked the vehicle along the roadside in Abuja’s central area to attend Friday congregational prayers.

“The staff left the office in the early afternoon. When he saw that prayers were about to begin, he parked by the roadside and joined the congregation,” the officer said.

“It was shocking that the vehicle was no longer there upon his return.”

The source said the distressed employee introduced himself as a staff of the ONSA while filing the report and sought the police’s assistance in tracking the stolen vehicle.
