Gunmen have killed Ejeh Udeh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otukpo LGA of Benue.

The incident occurred around 12am on Monday at Udeh’s residence in the Ogboju area of Otukpo.

Witnesses said the assailants, numbering about five, arrived on motorcycles and attacked the late politician as he entered his house.

“As soon as he entered the compound, they surrounded him and opened fire on him, and he died on the spot,” a source said.

The remains of the slain politician have been deposited at the Otukpo General Hospital mortuary.

Udeme Edet, spokesperson of the Benue police command, confirmed the incident to TheCable.

“One of the APC chairmen was killed, but one of the suspects has already been arrested, and he is in police custody. Investigation is ongoing to capture the remaining suspects,” Edet said.

Asked if the killing was an assassination, she replied, “I don’t know if it is an assassination, but he was killed.”
