Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command have arrested notorious armed robbery syndicate, terrorising parts of the nation’s capital and its environs.

A statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said the arrest followed a series of coordinated operations carried out between 3rd and 19th September.

She said the suspects identified as Ibrahim Shaibu a.k.a. Baba Godes from Zaria, Kaduna State; Yusuf Salihu from Kagini, FCT; Awulu Nuhu a.k.a. Zabi from Keita LGA, Katsina State and Usman Yerima a.k.a. Dangrugru from Jimeta LGA, Adamawa State are responsible for the killing of an Abuja celebrity, Bashir Dauda, popularly known as DJ Bash, who was killed in 2024.

She noted that during interrogation, the suspects “confessed to their involvement in several violent crimes, including the armed robbery of Umar Y. Gowa at Hillside Estate, Dawaki, and the attack on Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, where guests were robbed and Bashir Dauda, popularly known as DJ Bash, was fatally shot.

“Investigations further revealed that the syndicate had been terrorizing residents of Gwarinpa and Dawaki, where they carried out violent attacks on unsuspecting members of the public.

“This was corroborated by CCTV footage that captured one of their attacks on an innocent resident, further exposing the gang’s ruthless modus operandi.

“The suspects also provided useful information on other gang members currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate”.
