Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau state governor, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the party, announced Mutfwang’s entry in social media post on Friday.
The APC national chairman welcomed the governor’s decision to join the ruling party.
“Today’s registration is a statement of hope and a commitment to a shared vision of inclusive development, peace, and prosperity for Plateau State,” he said.
Yilwatda said the party would work closely with Mutfwang to advance the interests of the state, strengthen the APC and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
“We receive you with open arms and a deep sense of partnership, and I assure you of our collective resolve to work closely with you, hand in hand, to advance the interests of Plateau State. Welcome home to the APC, Senior Caleb Mutfwang,” he wrote.
In October 2025, Mutfwang said he was facing pressure from political figures to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
In December, sources within the governor’s camp told TheCable that Mutfwang had made up his mind to leave the PDP.
