Two Persons Arrested For Allegedly Setting Man Ablaze

 

Two suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in connection with the gruesome murder of one Okon, who was allegedly set ablaze inside his room at Ikot Udo Obobo village, Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Timfon John, the command said the suspects were apprehended following sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigation by operatives of the command.

John said police operatives acted swiftly on credible intelligence and mobilised to the scene of the incident, where the victim was found burnt beyond recognition under circumstances strongly suggesting a deliberate and premeditated act.

“The area was immediately cordoned off, and a full-scale investigation was launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police said.

It added that through sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated investigative efforts, the suspects were arrested and are currently assisting the police with useful information to aid ongoing investigations.

“They are currently in custody and are providing useful information that will assist the command in identifying other possible accomplices and establishing the full details of the crime,” the statement further noted.

Police authorities in the state have ordered the launch of a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the matter to ensure that all those involved in the heinous act are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay.

“The command wishes to categorically state that this is a clear case of culpable homicide, and it will be pursued with the full weight of the law,” she added.

The command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property, assuring residents that the command would continue to act decisively against all forms of criminality across the state.
