The Campaign for Democracy, CD and HURIDE has charged Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state to quickly extend palliative measures on our roads in Onitsha urban metropolis so as to ensure free flow of traffic in the commercial city.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Chairman of CD in Southeast and Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation (HURIDE), Dede Uzor A. Uzor said the only way to alleviate the sufferings of the masses in the state is by embarking on aggressive road maintenance culture in all parts of the state, with particular emphasis in Onitsha, the commercial city.
He mentioned some of the roads that require urgent attention as Uga Street, Arondizuogu Street, Port Harcourt Road, Orlu Street, Modebe Avenue, Oguta Road, Awka Road, Old Market Road, Ridge Road, GRA, Mbonu Ojike Street, Limca Road and other strategic roads within the commercial city.
According to the statement, “Soludo should draw his attention to road infrastructure. Such intervention should be timely to alleviate the sufferings of the common citizens”.
CD however commended Soludo for his efforts so far as it concerns road network in the state vis-a-vis dualization of Agulu/Nnobi)Nnewi road, Nnobi)Igboukwu/Ekwulobia/Oko/Ufuma/Ajalli/Umunze roads and urged him not to relent especially in a cosmopolitan City like Onitsha where enormous internal generated revenue are being generated and offcouse densely populated area,CD/HURIDE urged Soludo
