Woman Dies After Death Of 3 Own Kids In Ondo Crash

Three of the victims of the Saturday’s crash at the gate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Ondo State, were siblings. Two of them were final year students of the university.

Daily Trust gathered that their mother collapsed and died on hearing the news of their death.

The crash reportedly occurred when a Dangote truck carrying cement lost control owing to brake failure and rammed into business centres and shops near the institution’s gate, leaving many people dead and others injured.

A former students’ union president of the university and final year Law student, Adesomoju Tobi, was among the victims.

The university’s management on Sunday ordered closure of the institution till further notice.

Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Olugbenga Ige, who visited the scene, commiserated with the victims’ families, describing the incident as a tragedy.

Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, according to a statement on Sunday by FRSC spokesman, Bisi Kazeem, had deployed safety engineers to Akungba, Ondo State, to ascertain the causes and to incessant trailer crashes that have bedeviled that particular route of the highway and recommend solutions.

The National Association of Nigerian Students on Sunday condemned the killing of six students and others by the Dangote truck last Saturday in Akugba-Akoko, Ondo State.

NANS President Sunday Asefon, in a statement, called on the Federal Government to caution Dangote Company over incessant killings of Nigerians by its heavy duty trucks in every part of the country.
