The management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, on Wednesday shut some departments over COVID-19 scare.
According to Punch, The Rector of the polytechnic, Micheal Arimanwa, said that the decision was taken to safeguard the lives of staff and students of the institution.
The Rector listed the affected areas as the school’s medical center, works department, evening and weekend programmes blocks.
He disclosed that it was observed that the Covid-19 protocols had been breached in the affected departments.
Arimanwa said that the staff of the affected departments had been mandated to subject themselves to the COVID-19 tests.
He said, “We got information that the COVID-19 protocols had be compromised and in order to be on a safer side, we had to shut the affected areas.”
