Waheed Ogundele has been accused of raping a Lady (Name withheld) in Ologuneru area
of Oyo State on Friday.
It was gathered that Ogundele raped the lady on Sallah night while she went to share food to her neighbours.
A close relation of the lady, Mahmud, said that the rapist ran away while the neighbours were making efforts to take him to police station.
He said “We were praying in the mosque when her mother sent her to take food to someone,
we waited for her to come back but when she delayed and didn’t show up in good time, we
went to look for her. We saw her crying with blood stains on her body.
“We asked what happened and she said
Ogundele raped her.”
Mahmud said the case had been reported at
the Eleyele Police Command, he added that he has appealed to the family of the lady who was raped not to escalate the matter.
A lawyer, Alexander Atuchukwu, who condemned the incident, he urged parents to educate and discourage their male children from acts of rape and sexual abuse.
He said, “As a lawyer, we have found out that
most rapists and their apologists and
sympathisers most times, had rough and traumatic childhood; cases of father beating mother and others.
“The moment you decide to rape a woman,
that is the day you decide to damage her life
forever. Let us all take note
and be guided accordingly, he added.
