A 76-year-old man, Zubair Audu, has been arrested by the Kwara State command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) over alleged attempt to kill his son.

The septuagenarian, according to the command, chased his son, now at large with a locally made riffle over some disagreement that later degenerated.

According to the information made available to the newsmen on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the unfortunate incident occurred at Alagbado Area 5, Mountain Avenue, Ilorin.

Afolabi said: “On Wednesday 23/06/2021, at about 1445hours, NSCDC Divisional Office at Pake area, (Ilorin South), received a distress call that one 76 years old man was chasing his son with a locally made rifle.

“Further investigation has revealed that there have been no love lost between the father and the son which might have snowballed into the life-threatening incident,” he added.

Mr Babawale spoke further that the timely intervention of the NSCDC Anti-Vandal Patrol team in the area calmed the situation, adding that the man and his rifle were in the custody of the NSCDC while a serious man-hunt had begun for the son who is still at large.
