Imo state govt has kicked off the cash transfer sensitization tour in all the 27 local governments in Imo State.
The Head of, Imo-State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr Joseph Odoemenam said in a statement in Owerri on Saturday.
Mr. Odoemenam revealed that his team has visited Okigwe Zone, and since the 1st July 2021, commenced the tour of Orlu Zone.
He said, “the enlightenment tour is meant to acquaint Imo people of the people- oriented Federal government NG-CARES Program domesticated in the state as IMO – CARES program.
“The Imo – Cares program was flagged off by His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma, on Tuesday, 29th June, 2021 at Ahiajoku Civic Center, Owerri.
“Governor Uzodimma had used the occasion of the flag off to direct the Imo-State Cash Transfer Unit to disseminate the benefits of the programme to the three zones of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe.
Mr Joseph Odoemenam revealed that NG-CARES Program is a Post COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus program in response to the negative economic effects on the poor and vulnerable people, occasioned by the dreaded COVID-19 Pandemic .
Mr Odoemenam further disclosed that beneficiaries from the 27 Local Government Areas stands at 1,463 persons at the time being, with beneficiaries receiving #10,000=( Ten thousand naira only) every 2 months, for household food consumption support, saying that more people are being enrolled into the program.
