Katsina Govt Orders Immediate Closure Of Illegal Junction, Roadside Motor Parks

The Katsina State Government has ordered, with immediate effect, the immediate closure of all illegal junction and roadside motor parks across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

In a statement on Thursday, the Secretary to the Katsina State Government Mustapha Inuwa, said the owners of commercial vehicles [including luxurious buses] are further directed to immediately relocate their operations to designated and approved motor parks.

“This is in furtherance with consistent follow-up regarding the implementation of the Security Challenges [containment] Order where the State Executive Council had during its 5th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday reviewed and approved the provisions of the Order,” the statement explained.

“The Council has also approved the compulsory use of Reflective Jackets by all Commercial Motor Cycle Riders across the State”.

He noted that the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport has also – during the Council meeting – been mandated to issue appropriate Reflective Jacket Sample.

The statement also directed the Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Works, Housing and Transport, Ya’u Umar Gwajo- Gawajo and Tasi’u Dandagoro and all security agencies to direct and ensure strict compliance.
