Enugu State Police Command has assured that their men are currently on the trail of the unknown armed assailants that attacked one their checkpoints.
Unknown gunmen had on Saturday evening, attacked a police checkpoint located at Amodo Obeagu in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state. Four officers lost their lives during the deadly attack.
It was learnt that the gunmen stormed the police checkpoint in two Sienna cars and shot consistently for several minutes even after killing the policemen.
Some of the surviving policemen sustained heavy bullet wounds during the attack that eyewitnesses said lasted for about five minutes.
In a short message sent to our correspondent, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesmen of the command said: “Police Operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants.
“You will be updated with further development, please.”
