A magistrate court in Owerri has remanded one Tochi Stanley for defiling a 14 month old baby.
In a ruling on Wednesday, the presiding judge ordered Tochi Stanley be remanded in Owerri correctional center till April 6.
Our Correspondent gathered that Tochi Stanley, a native of Umuodu, Obogwe in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area in Imo state was charged for unlawfully having canal knowledge.
Recall that a non governmental organization, Center For Innovative And Pragmatic Development Initiative (CIPDI), on February 19, condemned the defilement of a 14 months old baby (name withheld) by one 28 year-old man, named Tochi Stanley at Umuodu, Obogwe in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area in Imo state.

Narrating to Crimefacts.news CIPDI’s president ,Mr Ifeanyi Nwanuruo said the baby’s mother was cooking when the young man who is a relative asked the mother to let him hold the baby.
“The mother with all pleasure handed the baby to the man. The man carried the baby into one of the rooms in the house, he locked the door behind him, removed the baby’s clothes and fingered the baby”, Mr Ifeanyi noted.
According to him,
“one of the workers who was working in the building went to pick some items from the room and noticed the door was locked from inside and a baby was crying. The baby’s uncle forced the door open and saw the young man pants down holding the baby and his fingers inside the baby’s private part”.
Speaking on the suspect’s remandment, CIPDI’s president said the journey to thiat point was not a rosy one. Stating that it took resilience, persistent, calls upon calls. route and approach.
“We thank CP Rabiu Hussaini (Imo state Commissioner of Police) who signed and approved the case , once it was brought to his desk. His actions paved way for the arraignment. DCP Giwa ( DCP Operations), for intervening in the matter when we called upon him and gave us the assurance that the case would be properly handled in the most professional and ethical manner. We also thank CSP Dike the Officer incharge of State CID Owerri for his assistance in the matter. We thank ASP Uche the IPO incharge of the matter for carrying out his investigation in a timely manner”.
