Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State has said that destroying valuable assets by hoodlums in the Southeast won’t bring good results.
The Governor stated this on Saturday evening in a reception banquet in honour of Ohaneze Ndígbo President, Prof. George Obiozor
In attendance are: Imo Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, HRH, Dr E.C Okeke, Chairman Imo traditional rulers council, Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, a renowned industrialist.
Others: Ohaneze Ndígbo former President, Dr Nnia Nwodo, Igwe Nnaeme Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, Ohaneze Ndígbo President, Prof George Obiozor etc.
He reminded Ndigbo there’s no value by the adestroying assets already in the Southeast neither can one be a hero by killing one’s brother.
According to Uzodimma, “Over the years, I have condemned the destructive approach in driving home a message; the Igbos are very respectful to constituted authorities and leadership therefore, it beats ones imagination but with every conviction that these acts are being perpetrated by criminal elements in the cloak of IPOB
“While the unmerited treatment on Ndigbo can never be overemphasized, let’s come to the understanding that dialogue and not violence, remains the most sophisticated vehicle to our desired destination.
Speaking further, “My advocacy for a political solution to the challenges we are facing, revolves around the Nigerian President of Igbo extraction come 2023 who must be true Igbo by birth, at heart and by origin.
“I therefore, beckon on our brothers and sisters in the creeks and bushes, to jettison violence in support of dialogue as we establish a convergence of our resourceful compatriots in the actualization of our Presidential quest in 2023.
“In seeking the support of other geopolitical zones, it would be appropriate to invoke the patriotic zeal in the political class, for a replication of the 1999 national unity inspiration by zoning 2023 Presidential slots of major political parties to the South East for equity, “Uzodimma noted.
