Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the party is working hard to win the presidential election in 2023.
Ayu spoke on Wednesday night during the session of the board of trustees (BoT) and national executive committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
The PDP chairman said members are working “around the clock” to reposition the party and hold a successful presidential primary.
“We have worked round the clock on the details in preparation for the special convention,” he said.
“We are not only getting more united, but we are also getting more determined to work hard and reclaim power.
“Everybody is working hard. I believe with this spirit we will definitely do very well in the forthcoming election and nothing will stop us from taking over power come May next year.”
Ayu said the national working committee (NWC) will manage the finances of the party “wisely” and remain accountable.
“Your money will be spent wisely, there will be financial discipline and you will see how we spent your money. What we try to do is to try and make this place a much more pleasant place for you to come and hold meetings,” he said.
Also speaking, Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto and chairman of the PDP governors forum, said his colleagues will give the party every support needed to win the 2023 general election.
“We are all very well mobilised towards various congresses and national convention and ultimately, the 2023 general election,” he said.
“I assure you, Mr chairman, as your governors, we are always ready to continue to give you every support that is required for our party to emerge successful in the general elections, starting with congresses at various levels.
“We’re very proud of the work you’re doing and members of the national working committee.
“The repositioning of the party is just starting and by the grace of God we are with you all the way to victory and to success for us to rescue and rebuild our country.”
