Court Denies Ekweremadu Bail Again, Adjourns Until August 4

Post Date : July 7, 2022

The West Minister Magistrate’s Court in the United Kingdom has again denied bail to Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy President of the Senate, and Beatrice, his wife.

The court, on Thursday, ruled that David Ukpo, a male brought into the country by the couple for the purpose of organ donation to their daughter, was a 21-year-old and not a 15-year-old minor.

The Ekweremadus pleaded not guilty to charges of human trafficking and organ harvesting, a violation of the country’s Modern Slavery Act, ChannelsTV reported.

The court rejected a bail application by the defence counsel, and adjourned the case until August 4, 2022.

This was the second time the court would reject their application.

On June 30, the Ekweremadus’ counsel prayed the court to grant them bail, but the court rejected the application.

The Metropolitan Police arrested the couple on June 23.
