Hoodlums attack Kwankwaso in Kogi

Post Date : September 1, 2022

Hoodlums have attacked Rabiu Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), in Kogi state.

Kwankwaso was in Lokoja, Kogi’s capital city, to inaugurate the NNPP secretariat in the state when a mob began pelting him.

The NNPP office is located on Kunama road, close to the Kogi government house, near Dave Mercy, a major pharmaceutical outlet in the state.

On arriving at the office on Wednesday, Kwankwaso’s convoy was pelted with stones and sachet water.

The security detail of the former governor of Kano state had to intervene to bring the situation under control.

The presidential candidate was also attacked when he visited the country home of the late Abubakar Audu, a former governor of Kogi state.

Audu’s residence is located in Ogbonicha, a few kilometres from Lokoja.

It is unclear why the NNPP presidential candidate was attacked by the mob on the two occasions.

The former senator would be the first presidential candidate to be attacked in the build-up to the 2023 polls.

Asides Kwankwaso, Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) are seeking to be the country’s next president.
