Three policemen were brutally murdered by heavily armed gunmen in Enugu on Wednesday night.
According to a witness who spoke to Journalist101, the incident happened around 9:20pm at the popular block busstop, Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu North Local Government Area of the state.
The witness said he was driving down Chime avenue when he saw the gunmen driving in a sienna car, overtake the hilux van of the policemen.
“Immediately they overtook them (the policemen), they stopped and opened fire on them. I quickly reversed and entered the next street for safety.
“When we couldn’t hear the gunshot anymore, we came out and saw one policeman struggling with his life on the floor. We thought that’s the only victim until someone saw two more persons inside the drainage. The two officers inside the drainage were dead.
“We helped the Divisional Police Officer of New Haven Police Division to take the policeman to the hospital. Their guns were also carted away by the hoodlums.”
There’s an unconfirmed report that the 4th officer in the vehicle isn’t yet accounted for after the attack which lasted for less than 10 minutes.
