Disband Ebubeagu–NUF Tells S/East Govs. *Ask International Community to Investigate Killings In region

Governors of South East have been urged to disband the Ebubeagu vigilant outfit set up to checkmate the activities of suspected criminals.

The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF) made the call in a statement they issued Monday after their strategic meeting in Enugu, the Enugu State capital.

In the statement signed by the Chief Media officer of the Forum, Mazi Udemadu Chika Udemadu , they condemned the incessant, unwarranted and extra-judicial killings of innocent and unarmed Igbo youth in the South East zone especially the ongoing brutal killing of a Trader at Affor Ogidi Market known as Pastor who was brutal few weeks ago with daily despicable killing of unarmed youths on the Phantom allegations of inserting tattoo on their bodies

They said such waste of hunan lives by the security outfits of the same people they ought to protect has defeated the objective of setting it up.

The group noted that the reckless waste of human lives by Ebubeagu was more pronounced in Imo and Ebonyi States respectively.

The group also condemned needles kidnapping for ransom in the zone, lamenting that both the killings and kidnappings have affected the economy of the zone.

The Ndigbo forum called on the National Hunan Rights Commission (NHRC), and other international human rights organizations such as Hunan Rights Watch, and Amnesty International among others to investigate the killings in cold blood in the South East Region of the country.

The group also called on the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom, Canada, European Commission among others to investigate the killings and kidnappings in the zone.

They however lauded the security outfit set up by the Anambra State Government, the Anambra State Vigilante Services (AVS)led by renowned security expert Commander Igwe and his operation (Commander Chinenye Ihenko Okpomkpi) for their respect for human rights.

The Ndigbo group said that the activities of AVS are not known to have abused the rights of citizens and people of the state and called on other states to emulate the operational method of AVS.
