The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its eight-month-long industrial action and resume work immediately.
The appellate court ordered the academic union to respect the decision of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) before filing its appeal.
“The court asked me, having regards for my reputation, to advise my client to comply with the order of the lower court. It was a directive to me,” FIJ quoted Femi Falana, the counsel to the University lecturers to have said.
The National Industrial Court of Nigeria had on September 21, ordered ASUU to call of its strike, which began on February 14.
